In June 2017, Alwyn met Swift’s family in Nashville. Later that year, he was seen attending her show at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball in New York City. In May 2018, the couple became Instagram official.
In 2020, he even wrote a few songs with Swift for her “Folklore” album, under the name William Bowery, so as not to bring attention to their relationship. “It was really the most accidental thing to happen in lockdown. It wasn’t like, ‘It’s three o’clock, it’s time to write a song!’ It was just messing around on a piano and singing badly and being overheard and then thinking, you know, what if we tried to get to the end of it together?” Alwyn co-wrote “Exile” and “Betty,” “Champagne Problems” and “Coney Island” on “Folklore.”
Swift has taken on acting roles in recent years as well. She made her musical debut in 2019’s “Cats” (Alwyn attended the premiere in support) and is about to star in the long-awaited David O. Russell film “Amsterdam,” alongside Christian Bale, Margo Robbie, John David Washington, Robert De Niro, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Mike Myers, Rami Malek, and Zoe Saldaña.
