Best Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Flavors, Ranked
Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield first started slinging scoops in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, in 1984. Since then, Ben & Jerry's has become the best-selling ice cream brand in the world.
The socially responsible company is the top-selling ice cream brand in the United States ($936 million in sales in 2021) and continues to dazzle ice cream fanatics with exciting and complex ice cream flavors. They've also released some stinkers.
These are the best and worst Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors. Did your favorite make the top 10, or did it get freezer burned in the bottom five?
Note: Rankings are based on user reviews on the Ben & Jerry's website, reviews from around the internet and our own taste buds.
59. Mint Chocolate Cookie
Year released: 2010
Special ingredients: Chocolate cookie sandwiches
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.4
Calories per pint: 1,090
Did you know: Mint chocolate chip ice cream was invented in 1973 in England. A student named Marilyn Ricketts enrolled in an ice cream competition, with the winner providing their frozen snack at the wedding of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips.
Bottom line: Mint Chocolate Cookie is mint chocolate chip ice cream without the green food coloring and knock-off Oreos instead of chocolate chips. But why?
We get that it's not mint chocolate chip, but Ben & Jerry's have some amazing chips. Why not just add the chips? This is no substitute for mint chocolate chip ice cream, so if you want that, you're better off getting a generic green-colored store brand pint.
Hugely disappointing.
58. Strawberry Cheesecake
Year released: 2009
Special ingredients: Strawberries
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.6
Calories per pint: 1,030
Did you know: To survive prohibition, some breweries switched from brewing booze to churning out ice cream.
Bottom line: Ben & Jerry's primarily sticks to chocolate, leaving fruit fans wanting. But this flavor isn’t the answer.
While you do get a bit of cheesecake, the strawberry flavoring overpowers and ultimately feels oddly chemical.
57. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Core
Year released: 2019
Special ingredients: Chocolate chip cookie dough core, cookie milk ice cream
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 1.8
Calories per pint: 1,140
Did you know: This is Ben and Jerry's worst-reviewed ice cream on their site.
Bottom line: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Core is made with a "cookie milk ice cream," which sort of just tastes like vanilla ice cream with chunks of chocolate chips.
There's a cookie flavor, sure, and it's not bad, but it's just kind of bland. The core is grainy, but even if you like it, there just isn't enough of it.
Overall, it's one of the weakest offerings from Ben & Jerry's. Just go with the original cookie dough flavor.
56. Boots on the Moooo'n
Year released: 2020
Special ingredients: Fudge cows and a sugar cookie dough core
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 3.7
Calories per pint: 1,250
Did you know: Ben & Jerry's launched one of these pints into near-space to announce its debut.
Bottom line: This ice cream is a collaboration with Netflix, specifically for the original series "Space Force."
They say "boots on the moon" a lot in that show, which is presumably why the ice cream has its name. Well, that and the pieces of fudge molded into the shape of dairy cows.
The toffee "meteor clusters" are a welcome addition, but overall, it's not that exciting. Plus, it's one of the most calorific offerings Ben & Jerry's currently has to offer.
55. Red, White and Blueberry
Year released: 2019
Special ingredients: Strawberries, shortbread bits
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 3.3
Calories per pint: 880
Did you know: Brain freeze happens due to the rapid constriction of blood vessels on the palate, which occurs when something very cold touches the roof of your mouth.
Bottom line: This light ice cream is a Walmart exclusive and is made with skim milk, so it has substantially less calories than a regular Ben & Jerry's pint.
But that comes at a cost, because the frosty tribute to Old Glory has been met with lukewarm reviews. Most people say the blueberry and strawberry flavors are too weak, which just seems so un-American.
This should be a flavor bomb that honors the blasts of freedom from our fireworks and firearms.
54. Chunky Monkey
Year released: 1999
Special ingredients: Fudge chunks, walnuts
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.5
Calories per pint: 1,200
Did you know: Before there were ice cream vans, there were ice cream vendors. They emerged on the streets of New York City during the 1820s.
Bottom line: Bananas, chocolate and walnuts — it's a chunky, banana-filled pint that some people love and others hate, depending on how nuts you are for bananas and nuts.
We'd rather leave this one in the freezer.
53. Karamel Sutra Core
Year released: 2014
Special ingredients: Fudge chips, caramel core
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.2
Calories per pint: 1,100
Did you know: Thomas Jefferson is credited as being the first person in America to write down a recipe for ice cream and helped popularize the frozen snack.
Bottom line: Karamel Sutra isn't as exciting as the name implies, since it's just chocolate and caramel ice cream with some fudge chips.
The ice creams are boring, and the fudge chips are more of an accent flavor than anything else. The core, of course, is the real star here — it's a fantastic buttery caramel that's gone too soon.
But without the core, this ice cream is just bland. It isn't worth it for the squirt of caramel.
52. Cannoli
Year released: 2012
Special ingredients: Fudge-covered pastry shells
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating: 3.8
Calories per pint: 1,090
Did you know: Ben & Jerry's brought this ice cream back from its flavor graveyard. It originally debuted in 2012.
Bottom line: Cannoli has its roots in Holy Cannoli, a short-lived pint that lasted just a year, from 1997 to 1998. That recipe included roasted pistachios and ricotta, which probably didn't help its popularity. That's nothing against pistachios or ricotta, but it was probably just too much for a pint of ice cream.
The new iteration, the very simply titled Cannoli, is a mascarpone ice cream with fudge-covered pastry shell pieces. It just doesn't really taste much like a cannoli, and we're not a lover of mascarpone ice cream.
It's a limited batch released in 2020, so if you think you'll dig it, grab this one before it's gone.
51. Ice Cream Sammie
Year released: 2019
Special ingredients: Chocolate sandwich cookies
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 5
Calories per pint: 1,160
Did you know: George Washington loved ice cream and brought old-fashioned ice cream-making methods to the White House.
Bottom line: This Walmart exclusive flavor is vanilla ice cream stuffed with chocolate cookie sandwiches (knockoff Oreos).
It works because there are a whole lot of Oreos, but it's also kind of uninspired and reminds us of regular cookies and cream ice cream.
There are better ice creams at Walmart.
50. Pistachio Pistachio
Year released: 2009
Special ingredients: Pistachios
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4
Calories per pint: 1,140
Did you know: James W. Parkinson of Philadelphia created pistachio-flavored ice cream in the 1940s.
Bottom line: It's pistachio ice cream with pistachios.
You either like pistachios and pistachio ice cream, or you don't.
We don't.
49. Coffee Toffee Bar Crunch
Year released: 2014
Special ingredients: Toffee
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 2.9
Calories per pint: 1,210
Did you know: The average American eats about 23 pounds of ice cream each year.
Bottom line: Coffee Toffee Bar Crunch replaced the much-loved Coffee Heath Bar Crunch, and reviews were pretty negative. And we agree. This was no substitute.
See, Ben & Jerry's stopped using Heath candy to reduce their usage of GMOs, and so they switched to toffee.
Unfortunately, toffee isn't nearly as good as Heath bars. Pass.
48. Everything But The...
Year released: 2000
Special ingredients: Peanut butter cups, toffee, white chocolate, almonds
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 3.8
Calories per pint: 1,250
Did you know: In 2017, a competitive eater named Miki Sudo set the world record for ice cream eating at the Indiana State Fair. She downed 16.5 pints of ice cream in six minutes.
Bottom line: Everything But The… is an ice cream that tastes like what it is: a bunch of stuff crammed into chocolate and vanilla ice creams.
Peanut butter cups, chocolate toffee, white chocolate chunks and chocolate almonds make each bite a little confusing. There's just too much stuff going on here.
At least it's named properly?
47. Minter Wonderland
Year released: 2018
Special ingredients: Mint chocolate ice cream, marshmallow and chocolate cookie swirls
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.7
Calories per pint: 1,070
Did you know: Mint chocolate chip ice cream is the fifth-most popular ice cream in the United States. According to The Guardian, "It seems the profile of a mint chocolate chip lover is a middle-age white female living in the north-east in a domestic partnership earning over $80K." Odd.
Bottom line: A take on the beloved mint chocolate chip flavor, Minter Wonderland is mint-flavored chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and chocolate cookie swirls.
It was good while it lasted, but this Target exclusive seems to be gone from shelves. We'd like to see B&J attempt another kind of mint ice cream.
46. Wake and 'No Bake' Cookie Dough Core
Year released: 2019
Special ingredients: Peanut butter cookies, fudge chips
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 3.2
Calories per pint: 1,170
Did you know: The term "wake and bake" is believed to have originated from Grateful Dead fans in the 1960s. Which should surprise no one.
Bottom line: This Core offering serves up peanut butter and vanilla ice cream, adding peanut butter cookies and fudge chips with a no-bake cookie dough core.
That "no bake" cookie dough core may be the tipping point for some. You'll either love it or hate it. It's a cookie dough that isn't meant to be baked and includes oats, chocolate and peanut butter. So it's not really cookie dough, which some people hate.
The flavors are a bit muted, too.
45. S'mores
Year released: 2010
Special ingredients: Toasted marshmallows and graham cracker swirls
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4
Calories per pint: 1,240
Did you know: Ben & Jerry's was originally going to be a bagel company, but the equipment was too expensive to get started. So they went for ice cream making instead.
Bottom line: S'mores is made of chocolate ice cream with fudge chunks, marshmallows and graham cracker swirls.
It's a pretty good ice cream, although we prefer Gimme S'more, which has toasted marshmallow ice cream instead of chocolate.
44. Sweet Like Sugar Cookie Dough Core
Year released: 2019
Special ingredients: Shortbread cookies, cherries
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.8
Calories per pint: 1,090
Did you know: The machinery used for Ben and Jerry's core line is based on machines used by a German sausage maker.
Bottom line: Almond ice cream paired next to cherry ice cream, a sugar cookie dough core and cookies, cherries and shortbread cookies packed in — Sweet Like Sugar Cookie Dough Core has a lot going on.
Is it good? Yes, yes, it is, even for those who don't dig sugar cookie dough. The almond ice cream (they say a "hint" of almond flavoring is used, but it's pretty apparent) is delicious.
And you can't go wrong with Ben & Jerry's cherry ice cream.
43. Brownie Batter Core
Year released: 2016
Special ingredients: Fudge core, fudge brownies
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging, Greyston brownies
Customer rating (out of 5): 3.5
Calories per pint: 1,050
Did you know: Ben & Jerry's employees get three free pints of ice cream to take home each day. We hope their health-care plan includes gym membership reimbursement.
Bottom line: It's vanilla and chocolate ice creams with fudge brownie junks and a soft brownie core wedged between it all. Since the ice creams are just regular chocolate and vanilla, this one depends on the core more than any other Core flavor.
And the core is pretty good. It's more batter-y than hot fudge, and if you let the pint sit out for a little while, the core turns nice and gooey. It's good, although unimaginative.
You could just get a jar of hot fudge and spoon it into a regular container of mixed-flavor ice creams and achieve the same result. Not that we'd know.
42. Cookies and Cream Cheesecake Core
Year released: 2016
Special ingredients: Cheesecake
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.3
Calories per pint: 1,040
Did you know: Ben & Jerry's believes that ice cream should be served between 8 and 10 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're lucky enough to be near a Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop, that's how cold they keep their ice cream there.
Bottom line: Cheesecake ice cream, chocolate ice cream and chocolate cookies with a cheesecake core. That's quite a combo, but does it deliver?
The cheesecake and chocolate ice creams are good, but probably not something you'd want to eat an entire pint of. That is to say, they're second players to the star of the show: the cheesecake core. It's fantastic. But like all Core ice creams, it depends on if your pint got a fair squeeze of the stuff. If you're short-changed, then you probably won't even bother finishing the ice cream after the core is gone.
Can they just sell all-core Core ice creams?
41. Berry Sweet Mascarpone
Year released: 2020
Special ingredients: Shortbread cookies and chocolate-covered almonds
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4
Calories per pint: 1,050
Did you know: You can only get this ice cream at Whole Foods.
Bottom line: Blackberry and mascarpone ice creams with shortbread cookies and chocolate-covered almonds make up this fruity pint of fine ice cream.
Blackberry isn't a typical ice cream flavor, so this one earns points for originality. People seem to like this one, but some have said that the nuts confuse the flavor while others think it's just too bland.
40. Justice ReMix'd
Year released: 2020
Special ingredients: Spicy fudge brownies and cinnamon bun dough
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging, greyston brownies
Customer rating (out of 5):
Calories per pint: 1,020
Did you know: A portion of the proceeds from each Justice ReMix’d sold will goes to the Advancement Project to support their Free and Safe campaign.
Bottom line: B&J's made this one a bit spicy because it represents "kick starting conversations about racial inequality in American and the need for criminal justice reform."
While the cinnamon and chocolate ice cream itself is delicious, the cause behind it is more important. Ben & Jerry's teamed up with the Advancement Project, a civil rights organization for racial justice, to highlight racism and criminal justice reform.
Ben & Jerry's also is deploying ice cream trucks in some states "to spark conversations, activate community members, and give away ice cream," the company said in a press release.
39. Pucker Upper
Year released: 2019
Special ingredients: It's sorbet
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, Fairtrade certified, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.7
Calories per pint: 480
Did you know: Emperor Nero mixed snow with honey and wine, creating a kind of primitive sorbet. (Find out more about Nero and other Roman facts.)
Bottom line: Let's take a break from all the gooey goodness of ice cream to appreciate one of B&J's rare sorbet offerings. This one is Pucker Upper, a very tart raspberry and lemonade sorbet with sour sugar bits coated in dairy to prevent melting.
It's unlike anything on this list, not just because it's not ice cream, but also because it's a completely different flavor profile. It's a quick, refreshing punch to the senses that's best enjoyed on a hot summer day.
But it's a limited batch, so it'll be gone quickly.
38. Vanilla Caramel Fudge
Year released: 1994
Special ingredients: Caramel and fudge swirls
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.7
Calories per pint: 1,170
Did you know: During World War II, Army Air Corps bomber pilots put milk and sugar into ammo canisters and strapped them to their planes. The freezing altitude and vibrations, along with a makeshift propeller that churned the ammo cans' ingredients, turned everything into real ice cream.
Bottom line: It's a simple flavor that's been around forever, so people must love it.
For us, it's just a little too simple, but the flavors are good, and there's a good amount of syrup.
Points for that.
37. Boom Chocolatta! Cookie Core
Year released: 2015
Special ingredients: Cookies, fudge flakes, chocolate cookie core
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.6
Calories per pint: 1,150
Did you know: Coffee ice cream dates back to the mid-1700s.
Bottom line: This offering from Ben &Jerry's Core line is a swirl of mocha and caramel ice creams. The mocha is good, but the caramel is, well, caramel ice cream — it's just sort of there to enhance the flavor of the mocha.
We'd argue that both the caramel and mocha ice creams could use a bit more flavor, but the chunky core tastes great.
Overall, it's a good pick for coffee ice cream lovers who want something a bit different.
36. Glampfire Trail Mix
Year released: 2018
Special ingredients: Pretzels, marshmallows, chocolate-covered almonds
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.7
Calories per pint: 1,180
Did you know: "I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream" was first published in 1927 as a comic novelty song about a magical snow land and Eskimos. Here's what it sounded like.
Bottom line: Glampfire Trail Mix is a Target exclusive flavor that consists of chocolate ice cream with pretzel and marshmallow swirls and fudge-covered almonds.
The pretzel swirls are divine, although we'd rather have more of them than those chocolate almonds.
35. Peanut Butter Fudge Core
Year released: 2014
Special ingredients: Peanut butter cups
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.7
Calories per pint: 1,260
Did you know: New Zealand eats the most ice cream per capita out of every country in the world with 28.4 liters, or 7.5 gallons.
Bottom line: Peanut Butter Fudge Core is a Core flavor with chocolate and peanut butter ice creams, mini peanut butter cups and a peanut butter fudge core. It's no wonder why this is one of the most calorie-heavy ice creams from Ben & Jerry's.
This one's a bit divisive, with some people thinking that there isn't enough peanut butter (or peanut butter cups), while others feeling that the overpowering chocolate flavors play to the peanut butter's strengths.
34. Urban Bourbon
Year released: 2017
Special ingredients: Bourbon
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.2
Calories per pint: 1,190
Did you know: In America, ice cream is an $11 billion industry with 26,000 workers.
Bottom line: Burnt caramel ice cream with almonds, chocolate fudge and a caramel swirl made with bourbon. The "burnt" caramel ice cream has a deeper flavor profile than Ben & Jerry's regular "meh" caramel ice cream, and the big chocolate fudge chips snap nicely.
The real star of the show, however, is the caramel swirl, which is made with real whiskey. It's so good, but alas, it's also gone.
Bring it back!
33. Salted Caramel Core
Year released: 2014
Special ingredients: Blonde brownies
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 3.6
Calories per pint: 1,070
Did you know: July has been National Ice Cream month since 1984. National Ice Cream Day is the third Sunday of July.
Bottom line: Unlike most Core ice creams, this one only has one ice cream flavor: sweet cream. It's flavored with blonde brownie bites and has a salted caramel core that's perfectly salted.
The core is great, and the blonde brownies are fantastic, but we're not big fans of sweet cream.
Ben & Jerry's really needs to start selling their Cores as ice cream toppings.
32. Salted Caramel Almond
Year released: 2017
Special ingredients: Almond, salted caramel swirl
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.5
Calories per pint: 1,150
Did you know: Ice cream, pizza and soda are what astronauts miss most when in space.
Bottom line: Salted Caramel Almond is exclusive to Albertsons grocery stores.
It has a vanilla base with roasted almond slivers and fudge flakes, making this a fine choice for caramel lovers who want some chocolate, too.
31. Bourbon Pecan Pie
Year released: 2015
Special ingredients: Pecans, shortbread cookie pieces
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.6
Calories per pint: 1,200
Did you know: It takes three gallons of whole milk to make one pint of ice cream.
Bottom line: Reviewers say Bourbon Pecan Pie is amazing. The problem is, it's only sold in Texas.
The only hope most people have of eating this buttery bourbon ice cream with a whiskey caramel swirl is snagging one at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport during a layover.
30. Cold Brew Caramel Latte
Year released: 2019
Special ingredients: Cold brew coffee
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4
Calories per pint: 940
Did you know: Nancy Johnson, a woman from Philadelphia, patented the first ice cream maker in 1843.
Bottom line: This pint of sweet cream and cold brew coffee ice cream with salted caramel swirls can only be found at 7-Eleven.
It's a decent ice cream, but we prefer Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz — although this one is significantly less fattening.
29. Chillin' the Roast Truffles
Year released: 2018
Special ingredients: Coffee liqueur truffles
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 3.3
Calories per pint: 1,080
Did you know: The first ice cream truck was invented in 1920 by Harry Burt in Youngstown, Ohio. He also was the founder of Good Humor.
Bottom line: Chillin' the Roast Truffles is a cold brew coffee ice cream with fudge swirls.
Its real claim to sweetness is the chocolate cookie-covered coffee liqueur truffles made with real rum.
The rum truffles are strong, so those who don't like booze in their coffee or ice cream will want to avoid — you really can taste the alcohol.
28. Brewed to Matter
Year released: 2015
Special ingredients: Fudge chunks, brownie batter swirl
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.7
Calories per pint: 1,120
Did you know: In the early 1970s, Ben and Jerry completed a correspondence course in ice cream-making from Penn State University. It cost them $5 each, and they got a perfect score (the test was open book).
Bottom line: Brewed to Matter is a Target exclusive coffee-flavored ice cream with chunks of fudge and a brownie batter swirl.
It's a sweet and tasty combination of chocolate with swirls of thick fudge and a pleasant coffee flavor.
Enjoy with an iced latte for maximum brain freeze.
27. Gimme S'more!
Year released: 2018
Special ingredients: Toasted marshmallows, fudge flakes
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating: 4.5
Calories per pint: 1,240
Did you know: Gimme S'more was originally released in 2018 as a limited batch option.
Bottom line: This flavor is back once again due to popular demand and enough people saying, "Gimme more!"
Ben and Jerry's Gimme S'more! ice cream includes toasted marshmallow with chocolate and graham cracker swirls with fudge flakes.
Released in 2018, it has become a full-time flavor.
26. Chocolate Peanut Butter Split
Year released: 2020
Special ingredients: Mini peanut butter cups
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 5
Calories per pint: 1,180
Did you know: In 2007, Reese's released a limited-edition peanut butter cup with banana cream to honor/cash-in on Elvis Presley.
Bottom line: Like banana splits? Like peanut butter? Like ice cream? Then this flavor is for you.
Ben & Jerry's mixed their chocolate and banana ice creams and mashed in a whole bunch of miniature peanut butter cups for this 2020 release.
It's exclusive to Albertson's family of grocery stores.
25. Caramel Chocolate Cheesecake
Year released: 2018
Special ingredients: Cheesecake pieces
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4
Calories per pint: 1,130
Did you know: The reason why ice cream turns from fluffy soft goodness that melts over a spoon to a frozen dessert needing an ice pick is because of air bubbles. When ice cream warms and melts, the air bubbles collapse, changing its texture.
Bottom line: Love caramel? Love chocolate? Love cheesecake? Then this will make you happy.
The only problem is there are never enough chunks of cheesecake in a pint.
24. Triple Caramel Chunk
Year released: 2012
Special ingredients: Fudge-covered caramel chunks
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.4
Calories per pint: 1,100
Did you know: Ben wanted to call the company Josephine’s Flying Machine. That doesn't really roll off the tongue.
Bottom line: This one's for caramel lovers.
The chocolate-covered caramel chunks are awesome, but we wish there was more of that caramel swirl.
Overall, not bad.
23. Peanut Butter World
Year released: 2011
Special ingredients: Peanut butter and chocolate cookie swirls
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.8
Calories per pint: 1,370
Did you know: Catherine the Great loved ice cream so much that she had a pair of intricate ice pails made for her. They sold for $105,840 at a Christie's auction in 2016.
Bottom line: Peanut Butter World trades in Peanut Butter Cup's peanut butter ice cream for chocolate and adds some chocolate cookie and peanut butter swirls.
It's really dang good while also being terribly unhealthy. But that's to be expected because it's peanut butter and chocolate.
This one's a Target exclusive.
22. Chip Happens
Year released: 2020
Special ingredients: Crunchy potato chip swirls
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating: 4.4
Calories per pint: 1,180
Did you know: The expression where this ice cream's name comes from — the more vulgar form of "stuff happens" — was first printed in 1983.
Bottom line: Another Netflix original flavor, Chip Happens is labeled as "a cold mess of chocolate ice cream with fudge chips and crunchy potato swirls."
The big draw here is the potato chips, which add some salty crunch to the chocolate ice cream base and pair well with the chocolate chips. As one reviewer says, it's an ice cream for those "who dip their fries in a Frosty."
Bonus points for an extra amount of chips.
21. Vanilla
Year released: 1984
Special ingredients: It's vanilla
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.7
Calories per pint: 990
Did you know: Vanilla was the first flavor that Ben & Jerry's ever made.
Bottom line: Sometimes, a good pint of vanilla ice cream does the trick.
Ben & Jerry's has a very smooth, creamy and tasty vanilla ice cream that can be enjoyed by itself or smothered with hot fudge.
It's a simple treasure.
20. Oat of This Swirled
Year released: 2017
Special ingredients: Oatmeal cinnamon cookie swirls
Values-led sourcing: Non-GMO, cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified, Caring Dairy, responsibly sourced packaging
Customer rating (out of 5): 4.5
Calories per pint: 1,250
