Most Expensive Jewelry in the World
There’s no denying that a beautiful, sparkling piece of jewelry can really catch the eye. And where there’s a lot of sparkle, there’s usually an enormous price tag.
Here are a handful of the most expensive jewelry items in the world. Some of these items have been sold at auction for unbelievable prices so that individuals can wear them privately. Others remain in safekeeping at museums so the world can bask in their incredible beauty. The value of many of these pieces comes not only from their genuine beauty and the rarity of the stones involved, but from their historical significance.
Make no mistake – none of these are something you’d casually wear around like typical jewelry. Most of these gorgeous, impressive works of art are what the richest among us get to wear.
Wallis Simpson’s Panther Bracelet
Estimated value: $12.5 million
You’ll be growling with delight the second this iconic panther bracelet wraps around your wrist. Originally created by Cartier in the 1950s for the Duchess of Windsor, who had a love for all things cat-related, this intricate bracelet boasts black precious onyx and white diamonds with piercing green emerald eyes. The last time it was up for auction, it fetched a whopping $12.5 million.
Bulgari Two-Stone Diamond Ring
Estimated value: $15.8 million
This incredibly intricate ring features two incredibly clear, large diamond stones – one white and one blue – set around a gorgeous diamond ring. The shape, color, and setting put together create an absolutely stunning ring. This one-of-a-kind ring feels both pure retro and pure glam.
The Perfect Pink
Estimated value: $23 million
If pink is your favorite color and you have plenty of money to spend, have a look at this incredibly beautiful 14.23-carat pink diamond ring. The brilliant clarity of the all the stones on the ring, combined with the stand-out coloring, make it no surprise that this item would be in high demand.
It is somewhat surprising, however, that a person would be willing to shell out $23 million for one ring, which is what this ring most recently earned at auction. But, hey, if you’ve got the funds to spend why not spend them on something unique and colorful?
Chopard 201 Carat Watch
Estimated value: $25 million
With 201 carats worth of diamonds included in the watch, this gorgeous and colorful item earns the title of the “Most Expensive Watch in the World.” This watch is made up many diamonds of all colors. So many it’s almost hard to see the actual time underneath them all.
These diamonds aren’t all just your average (and gorgeous) white. There are three huge heart shaped blue, colorless, and pink diamonds framing the watch face. Between that and the white and yellow gold design, it’s hard to look away from this dazzling piece.
Hutton-Mdivani Jadeite Necklace
Estimated value: $27.4 million
While so far many of the items on this list have featured the famous (and expensive) diamond, this necklace is made almost entirely of jade. And went for just as much as its diamond counterparts. The item recently pulled in $24.7 million.
The clasp itself is made of rubies and (you guessed it) diamonds. But it’s the huge, clear, and translucent jade that makes this piece truly memorable.
Blue Moon of Josephine
Estimated value: $48.4 million
Blue diamonds are the most expensive and rarest of all diamonds. So when you find a large blue diamond, you can expect it to come with a hefty price tag. That price tag didn’t stop a billionaire tycoon from buying his daughter an absolutely spectacular 12.03-carat blue diamond ring for about $48.4 million at an auction. He renamed the stone in her honor.
L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace
Estimated value: $55 million
With a name like “The Incomparable” it’s only natural that this jewelry item genuinely stands out. This necklace features a deep yellow stone that has been determined the most internally flawless diamond ever graded. And it’s surrounded by white delicate diamonds set in a striking leaf pattern around the large pendant.
Oppenheimer Blue
Estimated value: $57.5 million
This 14.6-carat blue diamond is set in a stunning ring and is one of the rarest gems in the world. With only a small percentage of blue diamonds found ever being over one carat, any blue diamond that has any substance to it becomes immediately valuable. Add in the clarity and setting that this gorgeous piece has and it’s no wonder it sold for around $57.5 million last time it was auctioned.
The only thing you’re left to wonder is how does one make enough money that they can buy blue diamonds at auctions just for fun.
Pink Star
Estimated value: $71.2 million
This 59.6-carat diamond is one of the most valuable cut diamonds ever offered at private auction. And, unsurprisingly, it fetched more than almost any other diamond has fetched before.
The incredible clarity of the diamond mixed with its breathtaking gentle color expected to fetch around $60 million. But what’s another $11.2 million among wealthy friends, am I right?
Wittelsbach-Graff Diamond
Estimated value: $80 million
This 31.6-carat blue hued diamond is not only impressive for its size and clarity. It’s also been a part of several royal European family crowns. It’s often compared to the iconic Hope Diamond, with some people speculating that they may have come from the same stone way back in the day (though there’s little evidence to support that theory).
There was some controversy when it was reshaped to become internally flawless at the cost of about 4.5 carats by renowned diamond connoisseur Laurence Graff. But it also become smoother and a deeper shade of blue. Either way, it remains incredibly stunning and culturally important.
The gorgeous stone is itself valuable, but with the additional information on its historical significance, its value skyrockets to the $80 million range.
Peacock Brooch
Estimated value: $100 million
If, like a peacock, you like to flaunt your beauty, this peacock brooch may be the perfect accessory. That’s, of course, assuming you have approximately $100 million. That’s its estimated value.
In the center of the item is a large, coveted blue diamond. But, amazingly, that blue diamond isn’t the most stunning part of the piece. Its surrounded by diamonds of all colors – yellow, orange, pink, and white (or colorless). The setting and design are intricate and jaw-dropping, as is the price that that goes along with it.
The Hope Diamond
No expensive jewelry list would be complete if it didn’t mention possibly the most famous jewelry item in the world, the Hope Diamond. Currently sitting in the Smithsonian, the Hope Diamond is an astonishing 45.52 carats of a clear blue diamond surrounded by 16 white diamonds and attached to a diamond necklace.
It’s more than a wonder of the world. It’s a beautiful work of art.
