Bottom line: Being the middle child can be tough. Imagine being LiAngelo Ball sandwiched between two NBA stars in older brother Lonzo Ball and younger brother LaMelo Ball, the 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year and one of the top young basketball players in the world.
Even lacking the elite talent of his brothers, LiAngelo still managed to sign with UCLA in 2017 and seemed like he could eventually be a decent contributor for the Bruins. But he got arrested for stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store in China during an exhibition trip early in his freshman year and never played for the Bruins again.
This is the thing about China. Their laws are a lot different than ours. LiAngelo was facing up to 10 years in prison before he bounced back to the U.S. and has been riding his brothers’ coattails ever since.
